SUMMARY .

The authors analyzed 544 cases of central serous chorioretinopathy to discuss its epidemiological data.

It was observed: 1- median age of 40.6y.; 2- predominance in males (81.9%); 3- difference on the age distribution according to the sex. Men presented the peak of incidence in the third decade, with sharp decline in the sixth decade, while this distribution was more uniform in women, with a relative predominance in the sixth decade; 4- equal distribution between right and left eyes; bilaterality in 12.4%; 5- accentuated predominance in white race (87.8%); 6- there was no significant seasonal variation related to CSC.
