SUMMARY

Diode laser represents one of the newer options for treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy, one of the leading causes of blindness in Brazil. In this paper retinal photocoagulation was applied to 45 patients presenting proliferative diabetic retinopathy with an average follow up of 11 months. Regression of neovascularization was observed in 95.5% of the cases.
