The authors referred 28 patients treated from choroidal melanomas by brachitherapy with Cobalt-60 plaques. The tumors size varied from 2.1 to 15 mm in height and from 9. O to 22. O mm in the big basal diameter. The patients were divided in two groups: GROUP I, with 19 patients where the tumors are maximum 8 mm in height; GROUP II, with 9 patients with bigger tumors. The results concerning to globe conservation were better in GROUP I (78.9%) than GROUP II (33.3%). The microscopic pathology analysis of all the removed eyes confirmed the clinical diagnosis of malignant melanoma. Radiation retinopathy ocurred as a complication in 39.3% of the cases; cataracts ocurred in 28.6%.
